1 Why clubs are different

Club marketing runs on members, not just customers

A registered club has members to keep, sub-clubs to support, a board that signs off artwork, and rules that apply to every post. We work with bowls clubs, sports clubs, RSLs and golf clubs from the Gold Coast to Lismore, so we plan for all of it from day one.

  • Members, not just customersMember comms only land when members are on the app, the mobile list and the email list. Growing that list is a campaign in itself.
  • The year is known in advanceRoughly eighty per cent of a club's year is known twelve months out: the same public holidays, finals, Melbourne Cup and Christmas functions.
  • The board sets the real deadlineIf artwork has to be tabled at a monthly meeting, your real deadline is weeks before the event.
  • Rules travel with every postGaming advertising restrictions, trade promotion permits and responsible-service requirements apply to your screens, socials and website alike.

2 The club year

Planned a year out, briefed a quarter out

Anzac Day, Mother's Day, Melbourne Cup and Christmas don't move, so they go in the calendar first. Get those four right and you've covered most of the trade that's actually available to a club. Then come the weekly raffles and members' draws, trivia, live music, footy finals and your AGM.

Christmas is the one that catches clubs out. Function enquiries start in July and August, and by September the venues that market early have taken the bookings. So Christmas starts in winter, and the big campaigns are designed six to eight weeks out.

  • A key-date calendar for your club's year
  • Half an hour with us each quarter to plan what's next
  • Honest lead times, so nothing is rushed into print
  • Delivered for screens, socials, print and your website

3 Member campaigns

Grow the member list you can actually reach

East Lismore Bowling Club had a problem every club knows. Members were spread across the app, the mobile list and the email list, but only a fraction were on all three, so member comms were hard to land.

We built The Big Catch around a prize worth chasing. Members earned 15 bonus draws to win a boat by downloading the club app, updating their details and swiping their card on any CUB product at the bar. Between 1 August and 30 September 2026, fully signed-up members went from 154 to 225: 46% more in two months. The same approach suits any membership push, from app sign-ups to youth memberships.

4 Events, raffles & Christmas

Something on every week, and a Christmas worth booking

Clubs run on regulars: raffles, members' draws, trivia, live music and the courtesy bus. That artwork should be refreshed a few times a year, not left up until it looks a decade old. We design it once, in every size you need for screens, socials, print and email.

For East Lismore Bowling Club's Christmas, we planned and produced the full campaign: screen artwork, social content and in-venue promotion, all scheduled through PixelSuite so the right message ran at the right time. At Pottsville Beach Sports Club, every sub-club now runs its own weekly raffle on the club's screens with PixelSuite's built-in raffle generator.

  • Weekly events and members' draws
  • Christmas functions, raffles and trading hours
  • Scheduled on your screens, set once and on time

5 Content

Our own crew, from the kitchen pass to the air

Photography, video, reels and drone from a crew that knows how a club runs. Every shoot is planned with multiple outputs in mind, so one shoot becomes screen promos, social clips, website banners and print. Food shoots are planned around the kitchen, and aerial work around the weather.

Menus are the classic trap. The same words live in print, on screens, on the website, in a PDF, on the POS and on delivery platforms, and they all have to match. We work back from the printer's deadline and switch everything over on the same day.

  • Menu and food photography
  • Drone and aerial
  • Free guides so your staff can film between shoots

Screens, web and socials

One story on every screen

Because we also look after club screens and websites, the promo on the bar screen, the post in members' feeds and the event page on your website all say the same thing on the same day. Cherry Street Sports Group swapped outdated printed posters for promotional content on TVs throughout the club.

How we work

Three steps, then it runs every week

Plan the year

We put the key dates and your own events into one calendar, and agree what each one needs.

Brief it properly

Every job gets a proper brief: sponsor logos, permit numbers, 18+ and responsible-service wording, and who signs it off.

Make it and ship it

Our crew shoots, designs and schedules it across screens, socials, print and web, then reports back each month on where the hours went.

Marketing and tech in one Flex Retainer

Set weekly hours, one point of contact, and specialists on both the marketing and the tech side who already know your club. On quiet weeks, spare hours go into planning and content, so you always get value.

Questions

Club marketing FAQ

Which areas do you cover?

We're based in Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast and work with clubs, pubs and venues across South-East Queensland and Northern NSW: the Gold Coast, the Tweed and the Northern Rivers, through to Ballina and Lismore.

Do you only work with registered clubs?

No. Most of our marketing work is for registered clubs, but the same crew works with pubs and other venues across QLD and NSW.

How far ahead should we brief you?

As a guide: a social post from existing artwork takes 1–2 days, new artwork 3–5 days, commercial print 2–3 weeks, a photo shoot 2–3 weeks, video or drone 3–4 weeks, and a full campaign 4–6 weeks. Christmas functions should be on sale by July. These are planning guides rather than limits, and we do plenty of quick turnarounds. The full calendar is in the venue year guide.

Can you advertise our gaming room?

In NSW, publishing gaming machine advertising is restricted, and that covers social media and websites as well as print. We keep gaming machines out of frame, and anything gaming-related goes past your compliance manager before it's designed. This isn't legal advice: the final call is your club's.

Can our own staff film and post as well?

Yes, and plenty of clubs do. Our free guides cover filming on a phone, the DJI Osmo Pocket 4 and writing posts people stop for. For artwork your team makes in-house, ask us for a set of templates so everything stays on brand.

Do you build club websites too?

Yes. Venue websites are built through Caidence, our software practice, and kept current with menus, events and functions, because we're already across your promos and screens.

How is it priced?

Through the Flex Retainer: a set number of hours each week covering marketing and technology in one plan, with rates that drop as your hours grow. One-off jobs are billed at our account rate. Every rate is on our rates table.
