Built inside venues, not sold to them

Cyberry started inside a club, not a boardroom. Before founding the company, Julian Pennisi spent five years running marketing — and then technology — for a Northern Rivers group of clubs, living with the problem every venue knows: a dozen systems that don't talk, a queue of vendors pointing at each other, and marketing squeezed in around it all. So he started building the replacements in-house.

In 2021 that became Cyberry, founded with Lachlan Janke — a lead developer from a major travel booking platform. The idea has never changed: one local team, accountable for the software, the screens, the cabling and the campaigns. And when something matters to how a venue runs, we'd rather build and own it than resell someone else's promise — that's where PixelSuite, BerryBox and our kiosks come from.

The other half of the story is creative. Julian's first careers were film sound design, photography and video production — and we still hire that way. Designers, photographers and videographers sit beside network techs and developers, which is why "creative minds + tech experts" isn't a slogan. It's the seating plan.
